CSCS cards - Qualification available through LEIA training provider network

After specialist contactors have been refused access to sites with labourer’s CSCS cards, LEIA has advertised its EAL Level 2 Certificate in Lift and Escalator Support Services qualification. The qualification has been designed to allow workers to be suitably assessed and prove competence in their chosen discipline and is available to register on through the LEIA training provider network.

The CLC recommends that all CSCS cards are achieved via a vocationally assessed qualification by the end of 2024. The different ways in which those individuals who hold a blue, gold or black industry accreditation card (issued by CSCS, via industry accreditation) can move to an appropriate card include:

  • Recognising a qualification they already have.

  • Assessing their competence against the relevant qualification for their occupation.

  • Undertaking any additional training required.

  • For a minority, it may require more extensive training.

LEIA’s qualification requires five units to be completed in total (three of which are mandatory). The total qualification time is recorded at 170 hours of study and evidence collection for assessment. LEIA anticipates that this could be completed in a six month period (provided the learner has access to collect evidence and undertakes the work to produce the portfolio).  Click here for more details.
