Neil Proud
Earlier this month, LEIA sadly shared of the passing of Neil Proud, Owner of Prolift Management Ltd and Lead End-Point Assessor at LEIA Assessment. His loss will be felt deeply by his colleagues at LEIA and across the lift industry.
“Neil joined the Assessment team in 2021, bringing with him extensive experience in the lift industry. He began his career as an apprentice at Stannah Lifts in 1983, where he remained for almost ten years, progressing from installation engineer to lead installer and then tester of hydraulic lifts. In the early 90s he moved on to install platform lifts before entering the service phase of his career with Thyssen, Liftwise, and then D&A lifts. It was there that he moved into the office as a Field Supervisor and worked his way up as a manager. In January 2020 he set up Prolift Management Ltd to assist consultants, lift companies and lift owners offering site, office, and training services.”
Karen Slade, Head of LEIA Assessment, said, “Neil was kind, funny, professional, and diligent in everything he did. He was an excellent assessor who managed to put the apprentices at ease while getting the best from them. He had high standards and good judgement whose views and opinions I trusted implicitly. He took to the role of end-point assessor like a duck to water, he was a natural. He will leave a large gap in our team, and we will miss him terribly.”
George Gibson
We are sorry to announce the passing of George Gibson on 11 August 2023 at the age of 86. George Gibson was a veteran American consultant who began his career with Otis. He was well-known for contributing to safety standards, particularly the ASME A17.1 / CSA B44 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators, the guide used throughout North America for the “design, construction, installation, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, alteration, and repair of elevators, escalators and related conveyances”. George had a passion for safety, and we are grateful for his commitment to sharing his knowledge and experience.
Our thoughts are with Neil and George’s families, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
