On 20 June 2022, the UK government published new guidance regarding the UKCA mark. The need to use the UKCA mark from 1 January 2023 has not changed, but there are some important “easements”. From 1 January 2023, manufacturers will need to UKCA-mark all safety components placed on the GB market. New lifts will need to be UKCA marked from the same date, but spare parts used for maintenance and repair may conform to the assessment requirements of the original equipment. This means that CE-marked spare parts can be used for CE-marked lifts placed on the market before 1 January 2023.
