Following an incident where a young child was badly injured by an escalator, Professor Dave Cooper was invited to talk about escalator safety on the BBC Radio 2 show with Jeremy Vine.

“People aren’t taught or trained on how to use an escalator properly, it’s a very well-kept secret.”

Having spent 30 years researching lift and escalator safety, he was able to provide many tips for how to keep yourself and young children safe whilst using them. He acknowledged that there is not enough training for users which can lead to accidents, and mentioned that whilst the government used to run public broadcasts about it, this no longer happens.
