Mattel has updated the design of the Barbie Dreamhouse to make the lift accessible for Barbies with wheelchairs. These were introduced as part of their Fashionistas line in 2019, but the previous Dreamhouse design limited them to the ground floor.

But the new design includes a much bigger lift that fits a wheelchair, allowing disabled Barbies to use the upper floors. Consumers have also commented that the new design uses a button to work the lift, rather than a fiddly pulley, making the new design better for all.
