He acknowledged that the drive towards net zero carries with it significant budget burdens, and urged professionals to resist the temptation to compromise project design by opting for cheaper, lower-quality products.

Catchpole also drew attention to the pivotal role played by facility managers in realizing a building's energy-efficient potential. To ensure that a building operates in alignment with its design intent, proper handover procedures and comprehensive training for building operators and managers are essential.
